Once completing their Novitiate, Sisters of Mary go forth to serve some rather remote locations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, and now, the United States. Above, left, are novices in training to become Sisters at the Novitiate in Kenya. The Sister in the above left picture has just arrived at her community by means of the local taxi common in East Africa, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, called, in Swahili, a boda boda.

Among school children, whether in Oregon, USA or in their African schools, the Sisters offer gentle guidance and a role model of a life lived following the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The cement for a new dormitory arrives by the least expensive means possible, a donkey cart still an efficient means of transportation in rural areas of Africa.
